We are very proud to announce that the Farringford Estate was awarded 'Highly Commended’ alongside Ardgowan and Ormiston House (private house) in the recent Historic Houses Restorations Awards.
The overall winner was Dungevan Castle, but all entries had significant stories to tell, bringing properties back to life with great attention to detail. The restoration of Farringford, the former home of Alfred Lord Tennyson, was planned to take the house back to the days when it was inhabited by it's most notable resident, and fully fits the award criteria.
Sponsored by Sotheby's, the Restoration Award was launched in 2008. It recognises and celebrates the remarkable restoration work continually being undertaken by the member houses.
Houses submit their own projects and they are judged by a team of experts according to the way in which they respect, and are in sympathy with, the historic quality of the building.
Our congratulations to Dunvegan Castle, the overall winner of the 2019 Historic Houses Restoration Award.
