Sustainable Travel Gold Award for Farringford

Farringford Estate and holiday cottages at Freshwater recently achieved the gold level in the Green Star sustainable travel scheme.

We are very proud to announce that Green Star Status was achieved for our #HolidayCottages at the end of 2019.

When we looked at the criteria we were actually doing a lot of the things required already. It is great to see Southern Vectis - the island's buses offering transport to the main attractions too.

A lot of our visitors for the House tours and Gardens in the summer came to us via the buses. The well documented footpaths and cycle paths have also encouraged people to come via foot or bike. We put in a new bike rack in the Spring and it was used the next day!

Some of our cottage visitors tend to use their car to get to us with all their luggage and then explore the #IsleofWight by foot & public transport.

The Green Star Scheme was originally launched in 2016 with the aim of encouraging businesses to look at how they promote sustainable travel on the Isle of Wight to their visitors.
