The Cowes Torquay Cowes Powerboat Race

This weekend Cowes will be hosting the 58th year of Powerboat Racing with 100mph offshore powerboats racing to Torquay and back.

26th August 2018

This weekend you will be able to hear a distant humming coming from the water surrounding the Island.  Cowes will be hosting the 58th year of Powerboat Racing. Cowes Esplanade and the Marina welcome teams of powerboats this Bank Holiday (25thand 26thAugust).  The exciting offshore powerboats will be racing to Torquay and then back again – weather permitting!

The Cowes - Torquay - Cowes race covers a distance of 190 nautical miles with some of the boats reaching nearly 100mph.

Cowes - the birthplace of international powerboat racing welcomes some of the loudest powerboats you will ever see or hear!  There are some good vantage points on the Island and many helicopters take to the air to film the action.  Cowes will come alive again with music and food outlets opening longer hours than usual. Exhilarating to watch and well worth a visit if you like big boys toys.
