Lovely afternoon visiting the grounds, house was closed. Terrific project to bring it back to its original state, with a very interesting display showing how it was achieved. Gardens were amazing. Dog friendly in the gardens.

Grade 1 listed building set in beautiful gardens. To visit the house and gardens you need to book a slot, a guided tour with either the guide telling you what is what or you can use the device to listen to as you walk around the eleven rooms on show. Truly magnificent rooms on show, sadly you cannot take pictures inside.

 Farringford Historic Home of Alfred Lord Tennyson

We stayed in the self catering stables for a 4 night stay. The accommodation is lovely, great size and very clean. The estate is in a perfect location for local attractions and is in the most beautiful spot. The grounds and walled garden are so beautiful, peaceful and full of wildlife. We will definitely be staying here again and would like to thank the staff for a lovely welcome.

Just visited the garden and the park. The walled garden is really loved and fussed, a real pleasure to visit and good value for money.

Visited the House yesterday. What a beautiful restoration. Found the audio guides really good and simple to use, to be able to stop and start them as you wish is really nice so you don't feel rushed and can pause to contemplate when you want to. Personally would like a bit more information and displays on the restoration of the building and how it has changed over the years. The sections showing the original wallpaper and friezes were excellent.

Our second visit to the gardens, this time taking friends and four dogs. The walled garden is a lovely start. The grounds look immaculate but unfortunately it was too hot for us to do the full walk again this year. We've not been able to see inside the house and do the tour because we have the dogs with us but maybe next time we're over. The lady on the gate was lovely and my friend had a chat with the original gardener/groundsman, also very nice. No tearoom which is unusual nowadays. Plenty of parking.

Thank you for a very warm welcome. We enjoyed the tranquillity at the Alfred cottage. Wonderful to be able to walk on Tennyson Down, Freshwater Bay and the Needles from the cottage.

The audio guide was informative and you can pause it at any time to speak to the guides or read exhibits more closely, for example Tennyson's edited draft of The Charge of the Light Brigade. You really get a sense of the family who lived there. The walled garden is stunning and the restoration story exhibition in the grounds is interesting too.
