We loved our visit. The guides were really knowledgeable and passionate about their work. They were also great storytellers that brought the poets' story to life. Though I'm personally not a fan of audio guides (I read much faster), I was glad that most of the information was also to be found in leaflets in the rooms. The interior was absolutely stunning, especially all the replications of the wallpaper, curtains and rugs.

Grade 1 listed building set in beautiful gardens. To visit the house and gardens you need to book a slot, a guided tour with either the guide telling you what is what or you can use the device to listen to as you walk around the eleven rooms on show. Truly magnificent rooms on show, sadly you cannot take pictures inside.

What a fabulous place! Very well run with knowledgeable guides and manageable numbers in each tour! Absolutely beautifully restored!

First visit to Farringford House today (recommended for a rainy day!). We are so impressed by the standard of renovation and decoration and the equally impressive and enthusiastic guides who make it very easy to visualise how this historic house looked in Alfred Lord Tennyson's day. What a transformation from the house's previous incarnation as a hotel!

Very interesting audio tour of the house with good history and level of information. Note it's best to book in advance as places are limited and at fixed times on only some days and months of the year.
